The duality of light tells us about the existence of its two behaviours when interacting with matter: one corpuscular, the other wave-like. Depending on how the observer understands it, through experimentation, certain phenomena will become apparent. Diffraction and interference or the photoelectric effect, for example.

Opera Gallery Madrid shows how different artists — including Anselm Reyle, Gerhard Richter, and David Magán — explore the nature of light through their artefacts, with the aim of revealing and shaping matter. This is the case with Magán, who transforms it into substance, with translucent surfaces that emit a soft halo of colour, in Halo Series 06 v.01 (2022-2023); and with Reyle, who combines neon, cables and transformers to capture the dynamic reflections of artificial light.
